FO configurator by tde: the perfect patch and trunk cable configuration in three steps

tde now offers user-friendly online tool for configuration of fibre optic cables

Dortmund, 13 August 2014. With the new fibre optics configurator tde – trans data elektronik GmbH now offers customers and interested persons a web-based online tool for a precise and flawless configuration request of FO applications. In three steps all customer specific variants of patch and trunk cable configurations can be quickly and easily developed in two quality levels with this programme, which is practical and easy to handle. Unlike the competition, the configurator by tde additionally includes the multi-fibre technology MPO/MTP. The integrated validity check guarantees viable configurations. The requests for the configured FO applications are immediately sent to tde’s internal sales department. This process avoids impractical further questions and requests can be processed more efficiently. The FO configurator, which is currently unique on the market regarding its scope, processing and service, is now available at www.tde.de/konfigurator.

tde now simplifies the configuration of patch and trunk cables for their customers: at www.tde.de/konfigurator the network expert provides an intuitive web-based online tool, which precisely and flawlessly configures fibre optic cables in three easy steps. For this purpose, interested people first chose the cable, then the connector and finally extras such as cable pulling socks or labelling. With each chosen parameter a reduced choice of cable types or connectors is automatically indicated in the next step so that plausible configurations are guaranteed.

“With our new fibre optic configurator we meet our customers’ demand for a simple and secure configuration,” Andre Engel, CEO of tde says. “The online tool is intuitive and ensures the highest reliability for users. At the same time, it makes it easier for us to process requests and we can respond even faster and more specific to the demands of our customers. In this way, we once again emphasise our high quality standards – in all areas.”

In addition to the configuration the system automatically and instantly develops an item number and the corresponding data sheet, which explains all parameters for connectors, cables, fibres and distributors in a detailed way. Customers can add their configured items to a watch-list indicating the quantity and can directly send it to tde’s internal sales service. Since customers already request the items with their numbers the internal sales service can react even faster. Also time-consuming enquiries are no longer necessary, because the fibre optic configuration only allows plausible configurations.

The tde fibre optic configurator is based on a central SQL database, which contains the data of all items and provides the content for the tde website, data sheets and catalogues. Thanks to its cross media publishing system tde can optimise the maintenance of the content since it only has to be administered once. At the same time the database is connected to the SAP ERP system, which allows tde to react faster to customer demands and better adjust their production to recent enquiries.

Further configurators for splice boxes or the copper cable assembly are already in the planning.
