Dortmund/Germany, 15 June 2015. With its new tMD – tde Micro Distribution Cable the network specialist tde now offers a viable alternative to conventional breakout cables: The cables are extremely thin and highly flexible. The 12 fibre cables have a diameter of only 3 mm and the 24 fibre cables have a diameter of 3.6 mm. Their limited cable volume not only unburdens cable runs and cable cabinets but also ensures comfortable and fast cable installation. This makes the tMD especially suitable for vertical cabling in buildings and for the cabling of main distribution frames in carrier environments. Moreover, the tMD facilitates cabinet-to-cabinet cabling or the direct connection of active components in data centres. Due to their classic loose tube design the tMD cables are excellent value for money: Especially the longer versions are significantly cheaper than conventional breakout cables.

tde – trans data elektronik expands its fibre optics portfolio: The tMD – tde Micro Distribution Cable has a very small cable diameter and a very limited cable volume. The 12 fibre cables measure only 3 mm and the 24 fibre cables 3.6 mm. This unburdens cable runs and cable cabinets significantly. “The tMD is a viable alternative to conventional breakout cables: 12 fibre cables usually have an outer diameter of at least 10 mm and 24 fibre cables have an outer diameter of even 17 mm,” Andre Engel, CEO of tde – trans data elektronik GmbH, explains. “The thin cables are highly flexible and can be laid out easily and comfortably.”

tde has designed the cables as classic loose tube cables with 12 or 24 MM OM3/OM4 or single-mode optical fibres in one tube. The tMD cables are preterminated with all customary fibre optic connectors including the MPO/MTP multi-fibre connector. The extremely thin cable fanouts have a diameter of 10 mm and are 60 mm long. In this way, the fanout units are easily accommodated in the patch panel. The individual cable whips each have a cable diameter of 1.6 mm. Their length can be customised.

The tMD – tde Micro Distribution Cable is especially sturdy and can be directly laid out in mesh cable trays. Network technicians use the tMD for the cabling of buildings, especially for vertical cabling, as well as in data centres for cabinet-to-cabinet cabling or the point-to-point connection of active components. In carrier environments the cables can be used to efficiently cable the main distribution frames.

Thanks to the loose tube design tde is able to offer its tMD cable at excellent value for money. This particularly applies to the longer tMD – tde Micro Distribution Cables, which are significantly cheaper than conventional breakout cables.

For more than 20 years the tde- trans data elektronik GmbH, an internationally successful company, has specialised in the development and production of scalable cabling systems for highest packing density. Also the nuclear research centre CERN relies on the know-how of the leading company in multi-fibre technics (MPO). The portfolio “Made in Germany” contains complete system solutions with a focus on Plug&Play for high speed applications in the field of Datacom, Telecom, industry, medical and defence. With its own service department tde offers planning and installation services from one source and supports the “European Code of Conduct” when it comes to energy efficiency in data centres.
